egidio musitano
Grown up in Southern Italy (Calabria) he moved in North of Italy (Veneto) with his family in 2008 and studied in Venice where Egidio have obtained a Master degree in Italian Literature and Philology.
During his time at University, he has brought to life his firsts short movies and made an advertisement for an uprising local company (Dentalcoop).
At this period also belong Egidio’s experiences with theater’s scene. As actor and assistant director he has joined many theater productions sponsored by the vibrant Cà Foscari’s theater and attended many workshops aimed to develop his acting and directing skills. At this time, in particular, he had the chance to follow from a close step the teachings delivered by the theater director Michele De Vita Conti (teacher at Paolo Grassi’s theater school of Milan, winner of the Hystrio, Olimipio and Ubu prizes) from whom Egidio has learnt the fundamentals of acting and directing.
Egidio has later took a deeper step into filmmaking living in Berlin where he has completed many of his works (Concentration, Loop based and more), has joined many independent productions and attended the Met Film school Berlin.
From the “Berlin experience” stands out a winner short movie at the Miami International film Festival as Best short narrative: The edge, directed by Yu Watanabe and Krishna Srirnam, to which Egidio has contributed as First Assistant Directors.
Musitano now works as freelance director and filmmaker taking action mainly between the areas of Venice and Bologna.
